Dr. Dan Nelson, D.C., DABCO, Ms. Sci.

Chiropractic Physician, Exercise Physiologist

Rank Baty

Dr. Dan Nelson founded Olympic Chiropractic & Spine Fitness with the goal of integrating Chiropractic Care with Active Exercise. Dr. Dan graduated from the University of Washington in 1975 (B.Sci. Biology) after 5 years rowing on the varsity Crew. He went on to coach at the national level which stimulated him to return to the UW and complete his M.Sci in Exercise Physiology in 1982. He went on to Chiropractic School at Westerns States Chiropractic College, graduating Summa Cum Laude in 1985. He completed his Post-Graduate Diplomate in Orthopedics in 1988 and taught Exercise Physiology and Rehabilitation in that program for 10 years. He has been involved in research studies published in Medicine & Science in Sport and Exercise as well as the New England Journal of Medicine. He joined the Seattle Fire Department in 1995, is currently a Lieutenant on Engine 38, and has been involved as a founding member of the Occ. Health & Fitness Committee for the department. Dr. Dan lives in the neighborhood and moved his practice back closer to the U-Dub in 2006 (from Fremont) to be closer to the community in which he lives. Dr. Dan’s style of Chiropractic follows a traditional style of osseous manipulation which enjoys a body of research supporting its efficacy treating most back common problems. Being competitive in nature rapid results are sought. Exercise is generally begun within the first week and is individually tailored to the needs and expectations of the patient. Much of the available “Back Care” out there is heavily invested in convincing patients of all the activities that are “Bad” for your back. Dr. Dan’s emphasis is on finding solutions to continuing the activities you enjoy. All current research in the area of back health says that the most active, fittest folks in every age group have the fewest problems. To that end if your back (or neck) slowing you down it is his mission to find a solution to get you going again.
